W&A Engineering’s corporate citizenship rivals peers with vast infrastructures. Leveraging their expertise and values, they support big intentions with a well-designed structure and consistent, clear action. W&A Engineering proves the theory that businesses of every size can be a powerful force for good.

Our Philosophy

W&A’s commitment to Corporate Citizenship is a recognition that businesses have responsibilities to both the communities in which they operate as well as to their employees and stakeholders. We at W&A Engineering are committed to Building Better Communities. That commitment applies to the work we do for our clients; it applies to the work environment we create for our employees; and it applies to the larger impact we believe our firm and its employees can have on our communities.

“I’m focused on how to make W&A the best possible company for its employees, and not just a great place to work but a great place to serve, as well.”

President & CEO Jon Williams

Since establishing the company in 1999, President & CEO Jon Williams has worked to fulfill his passion to give back to the community. “I’m focused on how to make W&A the best possible company for its employees, and not just a great place to work but a great place to serve, as well.”

W&A Cares was launched in 2018, as the firm prepared to launch its 20th anniversary year in 2019. We committed to building on our history of philanthropy and growing those efforts to have the greatest impact possible. Moving forward we want our efforts to be focused – centered on our values, our expertise, and our profession. To that end, we have chosen five areas of focus for W&A’s philanthropic and volunteer efforts. When faced with decisions on what we should do, these five areas will help guide us so that we have a cohesive and consistent approach with our philanthropy.

W&A gives back to the COMMUNITY through its annual Charities of Choice in Athens and Nashville, non-profit donations and sponsorships initiated by employees, paid time-off for employees who volunteer in the community, matching funds for employee charitable donations, and in-kind support of community projects such as the Firefly Trail.  W&A also provides in-kind ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT services to its Community Partners located throughout the State of Georgia, working with them to compete for and win projects that enhance the economic prosperity of their communities.  Through its sponsorships of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Athens and local mentoring programs, W&A supports primary and secondary EDUCATION, and employees visit local schools sharing information about careers in the STEAM fields of engineering, surveying, and landscape architecture.  W&A is deeply invested in EMPLOYEE WELL-BEING, encouraging and supporting community involvement, providing generous incentive packages and personal and professional growth opportunities, and offering an employee wellness program, Healthy Habits, with quarterly and annual participation rewards.  Finally, W&A’s culture of accountability extends to the world we live in, and thus we are committed to practices and choices that promote SUSTAINABILITY. The firm participates in Collective Harvest, a local CSA (community-supported agriculture), and has committed to reducing its carbon footprint by eliminating the use of disposable plastics and subscribing to LetUsCompost. Employees are also rewarded for supporting these local businesses. In addition, W&A incorporates sustainability into its professional practices, staying abreast of and utilizing new approaches to sustainability.
